Conkerly doesn't use cookies at all — not for signing you in, not for anything else. We looked, and there's no `Set-Cookie` anywhere in our systems.

We do use a small amount of ordinary browser storage (the same kind of technology cookies belong to) to keep you and your child signed in and to remember where you left off. Every single thing we store is listed below, in plain terms — nothing is hidden, and none of it is used to track you.

What we don't do

• No advertising cookies or trackers, ever.
• No analytics scripts of any kind (no Google Analytics, no Meta Pixel, no equivalent) — on the child app, the parent portal, or this marketing site.
• No third-party scripts that build a profile of you or your child across other websites.
• No selling or sharing of browsing data with anyone.

The storage we do use — all of it strictly necessary

Every item below exists to run the service you've asked for — signing in, staying signed in, and picking up where you left off. None of it is used for advertising, analytics or building a profile of you.

Kept on this device (survives closing the app)

• conkerly.deviceToken

  Remembers that this device is a trusted family tablet, so your child can be recognised on it without you signing in every time.

• conkerly.forestCelebrationShown.<childId>.<subject>

  Remembers that a small celebration animation has already been shown for a topic, so it doesn't play again every time.

Kept only for this browser tab (cleared when the tab closes)

• conkerly.childSession

  Your child's current sign-in for this tab, so refreshing the page doesn't sign them out mid-session.

• conkerly.pendingHandoff

  A one-time signal used the moment a parent hands the tablet to their child — read once, then deleted immediately.

• conkerly.parent.accessToken

  Your own sign-in as a parent. Kept out of longer-lived storage on purpose, so it never lingers in the background on a shared family tablet.

• conkerly.parent.refreshToken

  Lets your sign-in refresh itself quietly if you leave a tab open a long time, without you having to sign in again.

• conkerly.parent.connectReturnPath

  Remembers which settings screen to return you to after linking an extra sign-in method.

Why there's no cookie banner

Under the UK's Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), you only need to ask for consent before using cookies or similar storage that isn't strictly necessary for the service someone has asked for — things like advertising or analytics.

Everything Conkerly stores in your browser is strictly necessary to sign you in, keep your child signed in on this device, and resume a practice session — so there's nothing that needs your consent, and no banner asking for it.
